At the last minute, New Yorker claims $1 million Powerball prize

Patricia Hastings from Washingtonville, New York, had a stroke of luck when she claimed her $1 million Powerball prize just in the nick of time, a day before it would have expired.

She matched the first five numbers in the Powerball drawing on October 26, 2022, which were 19, 36, 37, 46, and 56, with the Powerball number being 24.

Hastings purchased her winning ticket at Cumberland Farms on 38 Brookside Rd. in Chester, New York.

After required withholdings, she received a single lump-sum payment of $651,000, choosing this option instead of an annuity.

It's great to see that the New York Powerball game generated significant sales, contributing a total of $516,866,283 in revenue during the fiscal year 2022-2023.

Additionally, school districts in Orange County benefited from $125,279,486 in Lottery Aid to Education funds, which helps support education in the area.

Patricia Hastings' win not only brought her a life-changing prize but also contributed to these funds for education.
